Nagpur: City police have it, for the first time, destroying illegal crackers in the city, seizing the material worth almost RS4 Lakh between Dhanteras and Diwali last week.
The police have allowed sales, buying, and exploding only green crackers between 8pm and 10 nights during Diwali.
About 23 violations were registered at a different police station against firefighters and other citizens who violated the norms for crackers.
In two days, the city police control room received 44 calls related to crackers, with callers to share complaints about a number of problems, ranging from violations of the deadline, sales of crackers that were banned, exploded disputes and noise.
Police, who only allow green crackers for sale and explode, continue to advance to enforce rules at various levels involving local police stations, crime branches and special teams.
CP Amitesh Kumar issues a notification under the criminal procedure code (CRPC) that prohibits each cracker without ‘green label’ and also allows to explode only between 8 nights and 10:00.
“We have repeated a meeting with stakeholders who told them about the Green Tribunal (NGT) Supreme Court Guideline (NGT) regarding green crackers, unlimited decibel norms, and time regulations.
Our stand is clear about taking action.

Cop Top said Marshal Beat Commando was rushed to any location where residents told the police through 112 emergency numbers regarding the problems related to crackers.
