HOUSTON: A policeman 38 years old Indian-American critically injured after someone opened fire on him and fled the scene while he was responding to a domestic dispute in the state of Georgia, according to media reports Monday.
Researchers at Georgia and NBA (National Basketball Association) Hall of Famer Shaquille O’Neal has been offering $ 30,000 reward for information about the suspect who shot and wounded last week Paramhans Desai, abcnews.com reported.
Henry County Police Desai respond to disruptions in the country on Thursday and tried to make an arrest when Jordan Jackson, 22, of McDonough, Georgia, allegedly shot him and fled the scene in a car, the report said, citing a statement issued by the Police Department Henry County.
Desai was taken to Grady Medical Center and was listed in critical but stable condition on Sunday, police said.
Desai is married and has two children.
He has been with the Henry County Police Department for two years and previously worked for the Georgia Department of Corrections and DeKalb County police, the report said, citing police.
According to local news portal fox5atlanta.com, Desai officer, 17-year law enforcement veteran, was shot by Jackson when responding to a 911 call in the Keys Ferry Road.
Police announced USD 30,000 reward leading to the arrest and indictment Jackson’s success.
Henry County Sheriff’s Office and the US Marshals Service each put up $ 10,000 and Crime Stoppers Greater Atlanta and O’Neal, who took the role of the sheriff’s office as a director of public relations earlier this year, each contributing USD 5,000, the report said.
