Srinagar: The army on Monday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Kashmir University to provide long-distance education courses to the army posted in the valley.
The MoU was signed by the Deputy Chancellor of the University of Prof.
Talat Ahmad and Commander General Commander Chinar Corps LT P Pandey at Gandhi Hall, Kashmir University, a defense spokesman said here.
He said it was a historic day for Uok, Srinagar and Chinar Corps established a long-term relationship to the provision of distance education courses to the army who currently served in Kashmir.
“As expected in the MoU, the Indian Army soldiers posted in Kashmir, will be able to admit to the various courses offered by the Directorate of Distance Education, Kashmir University.
The type of course available for army personnel ranges the six-month certificate course to the Diploma course One year and two years of postgraduate courses, “said the spokesman.

He said the total 18 courses are currently available for registration by army personnel, which will increase in time.
After the signing of the Formal MoU, Prof.
Ahmad, while overcoming the meeting, it was emphasized at the core values of the university and stated that the important significance of the long-term MOU would benefit the soldiers posted in Kashmir.
Lt Pandey Gen in his speech, praising the historical milestones achieved in the field of education, which will empower the Chinar Corps soldiers in carrying out their duties in a challenging environment.
He said Kashmir University, with wealthy inheritance, culture and academics, will provide one of the good opportunities for army personnel and civil defense employees from Corps Chinar to pursue higher education qualifications, domain specialties and material expertise.
