New Delhi: Paying for what Delhi High Court Delhi “Viktimization” has demanded an explanation from South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) and the AAP government about why hundreds of trees have been converted in South Delhi.
The court was hearing a request that was seeking tree preservation and the failure of the institution to obey the commands passed by the National Court and Green Court against concretishing trees.
The court was shocked by several photos and noted that “get to the tree trunk, the nail has been embedded and the metallic cable is hung along the tree.” Justice Najmi Waziri noted that this is a “victimization of the trees” and shows that SDMC, which maintains the streets in the housing colony, will record it “but has, for the best known reasons, allowing affair that plays many years.
” Further directed deputy commissioner, SDMC, to submit a written statement “How this unfortunate state arose” and explained that the executive engineer and director (horticulture) will also improve responsibility and take improvement measures.
The court made the regional tree officer, which was navigated by the Ministry of Forestry, a party for the petition submitted by environmental activist Bhavreen Kandhari.
He handed himself that last year he even complained to tree officers about victimization of trees and illegal activities, where the trees on the streets had been converted.
The court noted that “this road concretization at all from the direction of this court and NGT.
This shows ignoring the law not only by the city corporation, but by road maintenance institutions – the Department of Public Works” and directs them to submit Affidavit.
The bench also asked local shoes and DCP to explain how concretization was allowed from the beginning.
The request said instead of taking action against violators in complaints submitted to tree officers, notice was issued for the Vihar Vasant’s welfare association, which was actually involved in preserving the trees in the colony.
After studying the efforts by residents, including children and senior citizens, the court observed that “efforts to associate the population welfare to preserve the ecology of the regions must be encouraged.” The court then posted this problem for next week when checking the stand from the agency.
