Bhubaneswar / Cuttack: Chairman of the Minister of Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday inaugurated a sophisticated milk and milk processing plant from the Odisha (OHFED) State Cooperative Milk Federation in Arylo in Cuttack Regency where 5 Lakh Liters of Milk will be processed everyday.
Regulating more than 51 hectares of land, the automated factory has been developed by the Dairy National Development Board (NDDB) on RS 263 Crore investment.
The factory will produce 2-latric liters of milk, 30,000 liters of dadih, 10,000 liters of butter milk, 5,000 liters of Lassi and other products such as butter, cheese, milk and milk powder.
Overcoming the meeting after inaugurating the factory, Naveen said Omfed was an institution with every farmer who contributed to its development.
“Omfed has also worked to protect the interests of the country’s dairy farmers.
Nearly 6 Dairy Cow Farmers Lakh will benefit from new plants, while it will also help them increase their income,” said Naveen.
After commissioning a new factory, plants in the city, are used to employ 550 staff, now it will be closed.
The new factory can employ 650 people.
The minister’s chairman also stressed that the increase in farmers’ income was the main goal of its various government programs.
The state has facilitated subsidies of up to 50 lakh Rs to promote the formation of more milk processing units and milk in the state, said the minister’s chairman, urging the people to take advantage of various government programs.
Naveen said the target was set to increase the production capacity of daily milk offed up to 10 latris per day.
Currently Offed has 13 plants throughout the country when they collect almost 5 lakh milk per day.
The source Offed said that currently marketing its products in Chhattisgarh while those who come from new plants will be marketed in West Bengal, Bihar and Jharkhand.
