Coimbatore: Kothavadi farmers in Kinathukadavu Taluk and the closest villages are upbeat when water has been released to Lake Kothavadi after three years.
Water from Hill Thirumoorthy is used to feed the lake, which has shrunk and spread to 150 hectares.
After several checks checks are built on the river, water rarely reaches the lake.
It’s been more than 20 years since the lake reached its full capacity, local residents said.
Last year, locals and activists joined by hand to form the Kothavadi Lake Restoration Committee to restore the lake by strengthening Bunds.
They started doing it manually on weekends with the help of private companies that offer corporate social responsibility funds for this initiative project channel.
Pollachi MP K Shanmugasundam took a problem and received approval to release water to the water body.
Water is expected to reach the lake on Friday, said Panchayat Village Kothinasamy.
“The official has promised to supply water until the lake is fully filled Water to the lake regularly.
