New Delhi: Delhi Customs confiscated around 13 kg of Heroin worth 90 crore from two Uganda women who had arrived from Nairobi (Kenya) at IGI Airport on Saturday.
It was hidden in their bags, a officer said.
One woman, during interrogation, revealed that Kenyan residents had promised their money in exchange for sending ‘certain items’.
“Uganda woman accepted the agreement and traveled to Nairobi from Kampala through the road where Kenya woman gave her for a bag that would be sent in Delhi.
He also provides false tickets and documents to cover his visit as a medical tourist,” the officer said.
Zubair Riaz, Commissioner (customs), said that the passenger was supposed to send goods to someone who would contact him when he left.
“When he was intercepted by a customs officer, he was found to have a bag with a fake bottom cavity where 5.4kg Heroin was hidden,” Riaz said.
About 7.5 kg of heroin was found from the ownership of another female passenger, who also posed as a medical tourist.
Customs have confiscated more than 100 kg of heroin this year so far and chores 26 people.
