Coimbatore: Cidung Branch Police Crime from Coimbatore Arrested by Chanuka Thanayaka aka Ladiya aka Ladim, 38, A Citea Aide from Sri Lanka Underworld Don Angoda Lokka, from Bengaluru on Saturday.
The police said Chanuka Thanayaka, came from Athurugiriya in Colombo was the most sought-after criminal in Sri Lanka.
Sleuths arrested another man, which was identified as T Gopalakrishnan aka Jayapal, 46 to provide a shelter to Thanayaka in Bengaluru.
Both were produced before the Head of Judge Judge (CJM) M Sanjeevi Baskar on Saturday night and then returned in court detention.
After the death of Angoda Lokka because of the heart stops in his hiding place in Coimbatore on July 3, 2020, the police had arrested Madurai Sivakami Sundari’s lawyer and friends, Dhyaneswaran for helping him live in India under identity.
The lover of Angoda Lokka Amani Dhanji who lives with him in Coimbatore was also arrested.
The question with all three revealed that the Lokka gun was handed over to Thanayaka through Sivakami.
Meanwhile, this case was transferred to CBCID which launched the hunt for Thanayaka.
Police said Coimbatore CB-CID Deputy Inspector Police P Sivakumar got a tip about the existence of Thanayaya and the team rushed to Bengaluru on November 6 with the help of CB-Cyber Cyber cells and Karnataka police cyber cells, the police tracked it in Banaswadi.
In Banaswadi, the police team conducted an examination from the door to the door.
When the police showed a photo of Thanayaka, a man who worked as a housemaid named Nagaraj identified him and helped the police find a fugitive.
Furthermore, the police team traced Thanayaka to an apartment and arrested him.
The apartment belonged to the Gopalakrishnan sister, Srivilluputhur’s native.
He was also arrested for maintaining Thanayaka.
Incidentally, Jayapal was arrested by the Kancheepuram branch police about six months ago to provide a shelter for drug smugglers Sri Lanka Suresh.
He came out of prison in two months.
Thanayaka was also arrested by the police in 2017 but managed to hide since then.
Police sources said that the petition was submitted before the CJM court on Monday to take seven-day police detainees from the duo for further interrogation.
