Patna: An Indian Army Jawan posted at the AFMC Medical College (AFMC) in Pune was arrested in Khagaul in West Patna on Sunday for allegedly providing sensitive information to Pakistani intelligence (PIO) after falling prey.
Jawan, identified as Ganesh Kumar, belongs to Ashhawan in the Nalanda district.
Anti-terrorist troops (ATS) state police and intelligence agents found some sensitive documents saved on his cellphone which should not be there.
He was on leave, said the source.
City SP (West) Ashok Kumar Mishra said he worked as a nurse staff at AFMC, Pune.
“The formal procedure for his arrest was being made after submitting a quarter against it,” Mishra said.
Intelligence sources said Kumar was related to Pakistan’s operative over whatsapp about two years ago and honey to forward information about battle orders (orbat), which means the location of the army unit on land.
“Until now, the investigation shows that Kumar did not receive monetary benefits to convey information or was squeezed for it.
He was pure honey after that he was involved in espionage.
Pio has posed as an Indian Indian medical team staff to extract information from him,” said a source.
Source said ATS, police Patna, intelligence agencies and military intelligence personnel were questioned by soldiers to find out about the information and documents that he shared related to the movement and location of the Army unit in recent years.
They say cellphones found in their ownership will be sent for forensic tests so that each conversation and deleted documents are sent to Pakistan Operative for WhatsApp can be taken.
“Further legal processes are ongoing.
Not much can be revealed at this time,” the source that benefits the investigation.
