Coimbatore: Four unidentified people broke a house in Alwin Nagar near Sungam in Coimbatore, attacking senior citizens and seizing him from 16 sovereign gold jewelry and Rs 2 Lakh.
D Rajasekar, 62, and his wife R Shanthi, 57, slept on the ground floor of their house on Wednesday night.
Their relatives are sleeping on the first floor.
Around 2 in the morning on Thursday, four people covered their faces jump over home walls and opened the main door.
The gang attacked Rajasekar on his head with a weapon and seized him from 16 sovereignty of gold jewelry and Rs 2 Lakh.
Gang escaped from the crime scene.
The son of relatives did not realize the incident.
Then, Shanthi reminded him who told the city police.
A police team rushed to place.
Rajasekar was treated at a private hospital.
The couple told police that gang members had wore gloves.
The house does not have a CCTV camera.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (South Range) E Uma, Assistant Commissioner of Police Sathhesh and other police officials visit the crime scene.
A sniffer dog named Wilma is pressed into the service.
Fingerprint experts visit the crime scene.

The police said the couple planned to sell houses and 20 cents around him for Rs 6 Crore.
