New Delhi: The conscious police station Bazar in Delhi has been ranked as the best police station in the country as part of the annual home ministry training to assess police station based on parameters including handling crime, infrastructure, and personnel approaches.
Gangapur PS in Ganjam Regency in Odisha was set as the second Best Police Station and Bhatttu Kalan PS in Fatehabad, Haryana as the best.
Foreign Minister Amit Shah on Friday handed the trophy to Sho from the top three police stations at the DGP conference organized by the Intelligence Bureau in Lucknow.
Other police stations among the top 10 countries are PS Valpoi in North Goa, Goa; Manvi PS in Raichur, Karnataka; Kadmat Island PS in Lakshadweep; Shirala PS in Sangli, Maharashtra; Thottiyam PS in Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu; Basantgarh PS in Udhampur, Jammu & Kashmir; and mix chauram ps in Arwal, Bihar.
The Indian government chose the best performance police station throughout the country every year, to provide more effective incentives from the police station and promote healthy competition among them.
The police station is ranked every year according to the direction direction provided by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the 2015 DGP conference held at Kutch, Gujarat.
He has directed that parameters are set to assess the police station and assess their performance based on feedback.
The ranking process assesses the performance of the police station in parameters such as handling violations of property, crimes against women, crimes against weaker parts, cases of missing people, infrastructure, personnel approaches and citizen feedback, etc.
In 2020, Nongpok Sekkai PS in Thouber Manipur Regency was set as the best police station in the country, followed by the Suramangalam All-Women Police Station in Salem City, Tamil Nadu; and Kharsang in Changlang, Arunachal Pradesh.
