NEW DELHI: Indian tennis star Sania Mirza on Thursday thanked, amongst others, Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju to their immediate intervention in receiving her child and sister’s UK visa accepted, allowing them to follow her to the Olympics’ preparatory tournaments.
Weeks following the sport ministry sought intervention of India’s external affairs ministry about the matter, the Sports Authority of India (SAI) on Tuesday reported that the visa to get Sania’s sister and son was accepted.
The 34-year-old winner of six Grand Slams in doubles to Twitter to thank everybody for their assistance.
“I want to thank the Union Sports Minister, @KirenRijiju sir Indian Embassies at (UAE and UK), @Media_SAI along with also the British Govt for helping my kid Izhaan along with my sister Anam receive the visa to allow them to journey with me personally to UK for your tournaments.Very thankful @PMOIndia,” Sania tweeted.

Reacting to Sania’s conversation, Rijiju wanted the prior India number only chance as she starts her Journey having the eye on the Olympics.
“India is pleased with your accomplishments and several laurels you have attracted for India.
@MirzaSania since you prepare to symbolize India once more at the forthcoming Olympics #Tokyo2020, our fantasies are with you & whole Indian Olympic centered,” Rijiju composed on his Twitter handle.
