New Delhi: The Indian Bar Board (BCI) has suspended 28 advocates at Uttar Pradesh to apply for false claims under the motorbike bond of court claims and workers’ compensation on Monday.
The body of the peak lawyer made a decision at a meeting held on November 19.
The names of advocates are planted in a shootout and cost sheets in related cases.
The Chairman of the Council of Manan Kumar Mishra said in a press release, the suspension would continue until the process of them was completed.
“BCI has also directed the State Bar Uttar Pradesh Board to start the disciplinary process against this advocate and concluded in an investigation within three months and submitted the same report as BCI,” he said.
The decision was taken after the Supreme Court on November 16 took the ‘serious note’ of this problem.
According to BCI, the High Court of Allahabad has directed a special inquiry team, Lucknow to investigate suspicious claims in which a total of 233 claims such as various insurance companies are dismissed, or are dismissed or not pressed for a variety of petition claims claiming more than RS 300 Crore has been rejected by the court.
SC further observed that of a total of 92 criminal cases in various districts registered until the date, where 28 advocates were named as people accused of in 55 cases, investigations had been concluded / resolved in 32 cases and change sheets had occurred.
In the remaining cases, the investigation is declared delayed.
