Amritsar: Shiromani Akali Dal (Delhi) has appealed to the Pakistani government because it attracts the requirement to have a passport as an identification document for everyday pilgrimage to Gurdwara Darbar Sahib, in his country.
In the release released here on Monday, Sad (D) President Paramjit Singh Sarna said, “The rule is to have identification of government authentication; then why ask for a passport and not aadhar card?” He added that 75% of people did not have a passport and seized visiting The teacher’s residence crosses the border.
Sarna, who has made various Karsewa Projects (voluntary services) of Gurdwaras and Sarais in Pakistan, said SEDD (D) will write to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in this regard.
In particular, Kartarpur corridors connects Dera Baba Nanak in the Gurdapur District in India Punjab with Kartarpur Sahib in Narowal Punjab Pakistan.
It was inaugurated on November 9, 2019, but was closed because Covid 19 on March 16, 2020.
The Kartarpur corridor was reopened on November 17, 2021, allowing the faithful to visit Gurdwara Darbar Sahib in Pakistan and returned on the same day.
During his visit to Kartarpur Sahib, Sarna observed that a large number of worshipers arrived to ‘Darshan Sthal’ (a place located on the international border in Dera Baba Nanak) because it had a glimpse of Gurdwara Darbar Sahib in Pakistan with the help of binoculars.
“We have also proposed streaming Direct Gurdwara Darbar Sahib on the size of a life size installed in Darshan Sthal so that the followers of Baba Nanak can have an unbroken view of the religious services carried out in Gurdwara Darbar Sahib,” Sarna said.
