Nagpur: Spine is a complex structure that helps in posture, movers and nerve protection.
We all know that the spine has discs and we are all familiar with the disc slip problem.
But very few know that the spine also has a real connection, just like a knee or elbow, called the facet joint.
Like knees and elbows, this joint also develops cysts; which is a very rare condition – to detect and to treat.
Recently, the case of the facet cyst was detected and treated at Wockhardt Hospital.
Dr.
Priyesh Dhoke’s spinal surgery, which conducted this process, said the patient, 72-year-old, has developed acute symptoms such as severe pain while walking and standing.
“The people around him suggest that it might be due to old age.
A retired professor with an active lifestyle, it is surprising for this man to stop his daily activities,” said Dr.
Dhoke.
Interestingly, the cyst was not detected by the doctor even after MRI.
“In this case, the MRI report does not mention the combined cyst of the facet.
Radiologists have reported the condition of the degenerative spine.
As a doctor who cared for, I checked the film MRI with a very detail and detected that it was a stama cyst,” Dr.
Dhoke said.
After a successful operation, a large cyst has been removed and sent for histopathological biopsy to confirm.
After this, all the pressure on the spinal nerve is removed.
The patient told the Toi that he began to walk the next day.
“I can walk without pain with confidence for long distances in the next two weeks.
It’s like a new life for me.
I was tied to bed a few days ago and felt helpless.
My life has changed,” he said.
After several consultations, the symptoms are associated with his age.
A senior surgeon of government medical colleges and hospitals confirmed that the FACET cyst is a rare condition in which synovial swelling appears in the standing connection and compressing the spinal nerve causes pain, numbness or weakness to the legs.
“Sometimes, it is also associated with paralysis on the legs and difficulties with urine and pass through.
Surgery is an effective solution for this condition,” he said.
Rare cysts: symptoms * pain and cramps on the back of the bottom and feet * pain radiating from behind your legs * numbness or tingling at the feet * Increase pain when standing or running * The most important diagnosis of the treatment * surgery can be a solution to Pre-operative & infrastructure planning is needed * Advanced treatment anesthesia, upper class operation microscope, special drilling instruments and good post-operative treatments must also be for successful operations
