Chandigarh: Announced four main panels for the election of the Punjab, Congress on Monday brought back to the front of Sunil Jakhar’s head unit as the head of the campaign committee, while nonming Veteran Ambika Soni as Chair of the Coordination Committee and Rajya Sabha Partap Singh Bajwa member as Head of the Manifesto Committee.
AICC Secretary General Ajay Maken has been named the Chair of the Party screening committee for the poll.
A prominent Hindu face, Jakhar has been chosen for a coveted position after his meeting with Rahul Gandhi last week.
Previously, there had been reports that Jakhar was the majority with the party because it was not rehabilitated accordingly after being replaced by Navjot Singh Sidhu.
After missing a race to succeed Amarinder Singh as cm, Jakhar had refused an offer to join the Channi cabinet as one of two major deputy ministers.
Jakhar has criticized the state government and has posted Cryptic tweets.
Bajwa is believed to be interested in returning to state politics.
