Washington: US President Joe Biden and his Russian colleague Vladimir Putin must use their upcoming talks on Tuesday for Descalate tensions and turn to diplomatic solutions as opposed to Washington who continued aggressive rhetoric, Eurasian vice president, Earl Rasmussen told Sputnik.
Biden and Putin in virtual talks later that day is expected to discuss the crisis in Ukraine among other topics such as strategic stability.
Video conferences safely came six months after their face-to-face meeting in Geneva.
In addition, the call took place as the threat of the exchange of both parties on Russian military activities near Ukraine.
“I hope both will see to eliminate tensions and one from a diplomatic perspective versus constant aggressive rhetoric that has occurred with the current US Foreign Policy Team,” said Rasmussen.
Rasmussen said the Putin-Biden virtual summit took place in the midst of challenges throughout the world, including in Ukraine, Belarus, Afghanistan, Syria and in connection with the Iranian nuclear agreement and Covid-19 vaccine.
Speaking of Ukraine, Rasmussen noted that US State Minister Antony Blinken recently with his colleagues from Kiev and the Baltic countries increased rather than calming the situation in the region.
“I believe that there is a different perspective in the Biden government, some of which do not want a successful meeting.
Let’s hope that a calmer mind succeed,” Rasmussen added.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Monday that Putin would listen to Biden proposals in Ukraine with great interest.
Russia has repeatedly said that it was standing on his right to move the armed forces freely in his area.
On November 23, Kremlin’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov reaffirmed that Russia did not have an aggressive plan related to Ukraine.
The Kremlin also expressed concern about Kiev who collected nearly half of all armed forces in the contact with the Donbas area to the east of the country.
