Mumbai: Even before the threat of a new variant, testing remains a problem in several districts.
The State Public Health Department shows Wednesday that several districts do less than 100 tests per million populations.
The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends a minimum of 140 tests per day per million populations.
The overall test remains less than desired in the state, experts have shown.
For most of November, daily testing in Maharashtra remained in the range of 1 lakh to 1.2 lakh.
From that, Mumbai has done almost 35% to 40% of the test.
Dr.
Rahul Pandit, a member of the Covid Negara Task Force, said the state needs to double the average daily testing.
“We have to test the numbers we did at this time.
Many people have upper respiratory tract infections and Covid-19 need to be ruled out in it,” he said.
In the absence of a number of tests, the district can also struggle to find enough samples to send genome sequencing, he said.
The district should send 100 samples every month to sort.
State number shows the test number down significantly, sometimes under the lakh, even during the weekend.
On November 22, testing had dropped to as low as 66,811.
On November 29, it was 61,532.
Even on December 6 and December 7, testing was as low as 75,283 and 97,814 respectively.
Recently, districts such as Amravati, Buldhana and Yavatmal have been drawn to test less than 100 people per million populations.
Amravati has carried out 82 tests / million, Buldhana (99) and Yavatmal (114).
A district official said because there were fewer positive cases, there was limited contact to track and test.
Some public health experts say figures on the exam also in people.
Medical epidemiology Dr.
Chandrakant Lahariya said testing was similar to vaccination.
“Government work is to create infrastructure for testing.
After that, people must come and be tested if they experience symptoms,” he said.
A state official said the higher level of progress was inadequate testing signs.
“The country’s positioning level has been less than 1%,” the official said, meaning comparable to the level of transmission.
In Mumbai, civilian authority said they were still trying to keep the daily testing number up to 40,000.
Suresh Kakani, Supplementary City Commissioner, said 70% of the test was RT-PCR and the remaining antigens.
On Wednesday, the city has done more than 46,000 tests.
