Dhaka: At least 20 people were missing after the boat brought 21 upside down fishermen in Bengal Bay, the media reported on Tuesday.
The Xinhua news agency reported that the authorities had searched 20 people missing in the sea from Bangladesh.
A survivor was pulled out of the rough sea where their fishing vessel was reversed at Cyclon Storm Jawad.
“The ship brought 21 upside down fishermen in Bengal Bay and 20 of them were lost,” Gun Mostafa Chowdhury, President of the Association of the owner of the Barguna District Trawler in Barguna, about 180 km from Capital Dhaka, reported the Xinhua news agency today.
Mostafa Chowdhury said, “We want to know from the survivors Monday night that the ship was upside down and sank in Bengal Bay.” He said that the fisherman, Hafizur Rahman, who was saved by other ship crew members at around 11:00 a.m.
local time on Monday, had notified that there were 21 fishermen on a fishing boat.
Jahangir Mallick, Barguna District Police Chief, told Xinhua that the ship was reversed near a remote island.
