Kolkata: Bachelor and Postgraduate Exam at the University of Calcutta will be held in online mode, Cu Syndikat decided on Wednesday.
Syndicate Quoted concern over the new Virus Variant Omicron as an excuse behind not holding an offline exam.
Syndicate meeting, held in offline mode after a long break on Wednesday afternoon, has UG and PG checks in January and February as the main agenda.
Third and the five semester exam UG programs will begin from mid-January along with the third semester examination of the postgraduate program.
The first semester examination in both UG and PG courses will be held in February.
After almost 20 months of shutdown, the class offline returned in Cu from November 16.
Most departments follow hybrid mode to conduct regular classes in both online and offline modes.
Some departments that hold classes on alternative days to maintain the Covid protocol.
About 160 colleges affiliated follow their own methods to do classes.
Syndicate feels offline tests with full strength students in each department will make difficult social distance.
Sonali Vice Chancellor Sonali Chakravarti Banerjee said, “Round voice syndicate decided to do UG and PG exam in online mode due to concerns about new variants.

According to sources, the university has received a large number of applications from students asking for exams in online mode.

The Association of Secretary General Calcutta University Teachers’ Sankhayan Choudhury felt academic problems should be discussed with teachers before making important decisions.
