Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala on Thursday recorded 4,169 new infections and 225 deaths, which took Caseload to 51.71,232 and the toll road became 42,239.
Of the 225, 52 felled over the past few days and 173 was designated as Covid-19 deaths after receiving an appeal based on the new central guidelines and the direction of the Supreme Court, said the release of the state government.
With 4,357 more people recovered from viruses since Wednesday, total recovery reached 50,99,620 and active cases fell to 40,546, he said.
A total of 66,715 samples were tested in the last 24 hours, he said.
Among the 14 districts, Thiruvananthapuram recorded the highest with 759 new cases, followed by Ernakulam (691) and Kozhikode (526).
From new cases, 23 are health workers, 5 from outside the country and 3,912 were infected through contact with the source unclear at 229.
At present there are 1,63,498 people under supervision in various districts, including 1,58,897 in the quarantine of the house or Institutional and 4,601 in the hospital, said the broadcast.
