Jaipur: Two underage sisters from Hanumangarh who were married about three weeks ago filed a complaint at the local police station that accused them of being forced into a child’s marriage.
Girls aged 14 and 16 were married to two adult brothers.
Following complaints, the girls were detained on Saturday while they had been sent to Sakhi Shelter by the Local Child Welfare Committee (CWC).
Official claims this is probably the first case where two sisters gather to report children’s marriage, although the child’s panel also looks into certain anomalies revealed.
Hanumangarh CWC Chairman Jitendra Kumar Goyal said, “The girls married on November 28 and recently they filed complaints at Mahila Thana and the following we were involved.
The girls lived here with their father’s father and grandparents.
The family claimed that They thought it would be good to get them a good family , which was separated from her husband for the past years, still in Jaipur along with two younger daughters.
“The bride of the children contacted their mother a few days ago following that they filed the case and now the mother wants to bring her back with him to Jaipur but there seems to be something suspicious about mother’s intention too.
Because of this, I have guarded the girls at Children’s shelter and will get its history too.
We can’t just give up children without knowing how they will be saved in Jaipur “, Goyal added.
