US Open Champion Emma Raducanu has been tested positive for Covid-19 and will miss the Mubadala World Tennis Championship Exhibition this week in Abu Dhabi, said the 19-year-old Briton on Monday.
Raducanu, who became the first qualification to win Major when he won in the flushing meadow in September, because of the Singles Olympics of the Belinda Bencic gold medal in the December 16-18 incident.
“I am looking forward to playing in front of fans in Abu Dhabi, but unfortunately after testing positive Covid-19, I have to delay until the next opportunity,” Raducanu said.
“I isolate according to the rules and hopefully it will be back soon.” The committee said that they were seeing the “top alternative women’s competitor” to replace Raducanu at the event.
The world of Men Number Six Rafa Nadal and last year US Open Winners Dominic Thiem will return from layoffs of their injury in Abu Dhabi.
Britain Andy Murray, Russia Andrey Rublev, Norway Casper Ruud and Canada Denis Shapovalov will also participate in the event before the competitive season 2022 began in Australia.
