Nashik: Two more districts in Maharashtra Utara – Ahmednagar and Jalgaon – have become free of Covid-related mukormycosis cases.
Dhule is the first district in this region to be free of mukormycosis cases in October this year.
According to the latest data on the State Health Department, currently, there are only two active cases of mucatorcosis in the region – one in Nashik and others in the Nandurbar district dominated by tribes.
Dr.
Pd Gandal, Deputy Director (Nashik Region) from the State Health Department, “More than a dozen mucormycosis patients in this region have been successfully treated in the past few days and were dismissed from different hospitals.

A total of 1,361 cases of musicycosis were reported from the region during the second wave and so far, 1,190 have recovered from disease.
The highest number of cases was reported in the Nashik district (779), followed by Ahmednagar (300) and Jalgaon (139).
Dhule has 105 and a 38 case nandurbar.
These patients had undergone treatment for Covid-19 in the hospital and then developed fungal infections.
Dr.
Sanjay Gangurde, Nashik District Coordinator for Mucormycosis and ENT surgeon at Nashik civil hospital, said the patient was mucormycosis alone in Nashik Regency was undergoing treatment at the Malegaon General Hospital managed by the government.
“There are no active musyrcosis patients in Nashik City today, who have reported the highest number of cases in this district,” added Dr.
Sanjay Gangurde.
