TN: Report in school buildings that are not safe at the end

Chennai: After three students died in the collapse of the wall at Tirunelveli school on Friday, the Department of School Education was looking for a report from the Head of Educational Officer in a unsafe building in schools that must be destroyed.
This report will be submitted at the end of the month and the department will take appropriate action.
“We ask officials to examine building stability in government, assisted and private schools,” said Minister of School Education Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi said on Saturday.
The department allocates Rs 250 Crore for repair work and issues demolition commands if the building is considered insecure.
“After demolition, schools can use classrooms at the nearest school (or) building rental,” he said.
Officials said such demolition began in the Chennai district.
“Ten buildings have been identified.
After order from collectors, the multi -epartmental team will inspect the building in all 1,447 schools in the district starting Monday,” said S Mars, Head of Education, Chennai District.
Officials in districts such as Trichy, Karur and Pulajotta have also identified unsafe buildings.
About 290 buildings in government schools in Trichy were marked unsafe while 550 buildings were identified as weak in September in Coimbatore District.
Wall Collapse: School Correspondent in Jailschaffer High School Correspondent R P Selvakumar and contractor John Kennedy, who built a toilet whose wall collapsed on Friday, sent to Saturday Saturday.
Two men and school principals B V Persis Gnanaselvi, who were in the hospital, must be sent in detention until 31 December.
