Kuala Lumpur: At least eight people have died in a flood that has destroyed Malaysia, the authorities said on Monday, when the government faced criticism from public parliamentarians and opposition to its rescue efforts.
Floods are ordinary on the east coast of Malaysia during the annual rainy season between October and March, but heavy heavy rainfall which began on Friday has made tensions on emergency services throughout the country.
Malaysia has mobilized other security forces and agents in seven countries, with the worst floods in Selangor, the richest and most populous areas in the country.
Selangor police reported eight people found dead in a flood on Monday, according to the assistance of state news named.
They include four in Sri Taman Muda, an environment in the Shah Alam district, where many people are still believed to be trapped at home and apartment buildings because efforts to rescue are hampered by a lack of ship and labor.
More than 32,000 displaced people from Selangor have been transferred to temporary shelters on Monday, said the Head of State of State on Twitter.
But it is not clear how much to be saved with the communication line cut off in many parts of the country.
The opposition parliamentarians on Monday lamburned the authority for delays in response.
“Tonight will be the third night, people are still shouting for the ship,” said Hannah Yeoh’s lawmaker from the Democratic Action Party told reporters in parliament.
“We want (government) to immediately activate help so we no longer find the body.” Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob said in a statement on Monday, he had ordered all agents to carry out “more aggressive” surgery to help those affected in Taman Sri Muda.
Taman Sri Young Resident Sazuee, 43, and his family was saved by friends on Monday, after being trapped in their homes for more than two days.
“The assistance from the government has never come for us, we only received help from the parents of the children I was waiting for,” he told Reuters.
“I really hope the authorities can act faster, and they pay more attention to people here,” he added.
