New Delhi: Goa will be released earlier than the Portuguese rule has Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel staying for a little more time, said Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday.

Goa Liberation Day is celebrated on December 19 every year to mark the success of ‘Vijay’s Operations’ carried out by the Indian Armed Forces which released the cave from Portuguese rules.
Patel, Deputy PM in the Jawaharlal Nehru Cabinet, died on December 15, 1950.
He was credited with the release of the Marathwada region in Maharashtra from the nizam erstwhile rules.
Talking about his visit to Rome, Modi said, “Some time ago, I went to Italy and the Vatican city.
There I also had the opportunity to meet Pope Francis.
I invited him to visit India, where Pope Francis said” This is the biggest gift You have given me.
“” This is his love for Indian diversity, our democracy is shining, “Prime Minister said.
Previously today, PM Modi inaugurated several development projects in Goa including the renovated Fort Aguada Prison Museum, Super Blocks Specialized in Goa Medical College, New South Goa District Hospital, flight skills development center at the Mopa airport and gas insulated substation in Dabolim-Navelim, Margao.
He also placed the foundation stone for India International Legal Education Universities and the Research of the Indian Bar Council believed in Goa.
