Navi Mumbai: Aroma of sweet mango has been fiery in the Vashi wholesale market.
The first Lot Mango Alphonso from Devgad in Konkan reached the yar of agriculture fruit produced a market committee on Monday.
Even though it was still raw, the whole lot of 25 dozen was sold in a minute of arrival.
The mango can change until a week to cook, said a seller.
Traders in the market claim that the wholesale level for mango is around RS 3,000 per dozen and in the retail market, it is expected by Rs 4,000 per dozen.
The arrival of regular fruit is likely to begin since early January.

The first lot was supplied by Arvind Valke from his farm in Valkewadi from Devgad, the Sindhudurg district.
According to sources who are accustomed to mango trade, farmers who succeed in saving mango flowers by covering them with plastic during the rainy season are now harvesting the pre-season Alphonso fruit and this small plant in terms of quantity.
In the next two weeks, about 50 boxes of six dozen each is expected to reach the market.
Navi Mumbai Resident Samrat Shetty said the price was too exorbitant.
“Alphonso Premium is not a cup of our tea now.
The price must be dipped in a few months after that ordinary people will be able to buy it,” he said.
Traders in the market said they expected prices to fall in the coming days, anticipating a good season with more products.
Pansare said he was expecting a good arrival of the famous Mango Alphonso Devgad next month with a slightly cheaper rate.
“In the peak season last year, the same mango varieties are sold with Rs 500 per dozen and this season too, rates will fall away.”
