Tuticorin: At least 21 kilograms of heroin worth more than Rs 21 Crore were confiscated and six people were arrested on Tuesday night and Wednesday to smuggle and sell drugs in Tuticorin.
Police District Supervisors S Jayakumar told Ti that the defendant claimed to have received a 30 kg drug package floating in the sea from the Minicoy Islands while fishing there.
A special team is looking for a accused key that is running in the state.
The arrest is M Ansar Ali, 26, M MariMutu, 26, and S Imran Khan, 27, Tuticorin City and Antony Muthu, 42, Prem Singh, and S Kasali, 27, from coastal village Tharuvaikulam.
They were ordered under the narcotics drug and the Psychotropic substance law (NDPS).
Middle Police Thooothukudi began an investigation based on information that drugs were sold in the city.
During the investigation they found Ansar Ali and his legs Marimuthu and Imran Khan on Thursday night.
The police said that 162 grams of heroin worth more than RS 16 lakh recovered from Imran Khan’s house.
