Panaji: Goa Tourism Council (GTB) held his first meeting on Thursday where members were given a presentation on tourism masterplans and tourism policies, road maps for further development of Goa.
Chairman of the Pramod Sawant minister, who is the Chair of the GTB, said the council would work towards the promotion of the inheritance and culture of Goa, and opened the new tourism road.
The board will also work to reduce congestion in the implementation of the tourism project.
This will implement a tourism parent plan that aims to change the cave into innovative and responsible tourist destinations, while maintaining state culture, inheritance and natural assets.
“All decisions about the cave promotion will be taken by the Board.
The appointment of the chief executive is also discussed,” Sawant told reporters to post the meeting.
Goa Tourism Council has provisions to appoint a chief executive who will not become government officials, unlike companies and other boards.
Minister of Tourism Manohar Ajgaonkar, who is the co-chairperson, the Goa Tourism Council will ensure the growth of the tourism sector sustainable and fast.
“This will play an instrumental role in implementing tourism policies and the introduction of several new tourism services in the state,” said Ajgaonkar.
Board members said that the three main committees, including the high-powered committee led by the minister’s chairman, had dissolved and their strength now rested with the council.
As given, the empowered committee was formed.
The PowerDower Committee will help the council in its various functions, the officer said.
The Board, he said, also decided to appoint legal consultants who would help compile the laws needed to implement the provisions of the policy.
At present, the Ministry of Tourism does not have tourism laws.
“Whatever is available is little by little.
We have several guidelines and policies.
All of that must be consolidated and made into a single law,” he said.
The next board meeting is likely to take place next year when the new government is formed.
The board must meet at least once in three months.
The development of additional infrastructure to facilitate tourism businesses such as public comfort, coastal infrastructure, security and supervision, roadside facilities and namepets will be carried out through the Goa Tourism Council.
