PUDUCHERRY: The Puducherry Government has expanded Covid-19 curfew starting at 11pm to 5 in the morning every day until January 31 except on the occasion of the New Year and Vaikunta Ekadesi.
The temples were allowed to be opened to the public after 10pm for prayer on Vaikunta Ekadesi Day.
The government has also allowed social / cultural meetings subject to the appropriate Covid-19 behavior given the upcoming pongal festivals and government functions including the National Youth Festival.
The government has allowed a new year celebration during the night on December 31 and January 1 in all places and public places.
“The celebration of the new year on the coastal road during the night on December 31 and January 1 must be allowed until 12:30 a.m.
subject to the compliance of the appropriate Covid-19 behavior.
The coastal road must be closed at 12:30 a.m.
and there will be no public movement exceed 2 am, “Read the order passed by the government.
All places / places of religious worship are allowed to open to the public after 10pm to 12:30 for Darshan / prayer on New Year’s Eve.
The government has allowed theater and multiplexes cinemas to operate with full capacity until 12:30 a.m.
by strictly following standard operating procedures.
The Madras High Court, while allowing a new year celebration in public places in Puducherry, prohibiting the sale of liquor from 10 nights on December 31 on January 1 on January 1.
