Coimbatore: City Corporation plans to add 370 light commercial vehicles to the fleet 209 to increase garbage collection to the door.
While every vehicle can collect waste from 1,000 houses, officials estimate that 370 vehicles are required to reach 5.5 lakh houses and small commercial companies.
“We studied various combinations and scenarios to find out how to cost-effective doors and found that the collection of waste using light commercial vehicles was the most efficient way.
Not only reduces the costs involved, but also raises labor requirements.
According to the rules of solid waste management, 2016, garbage must see a smaller amount of change, “said the corporate commissioner King Gopal Sunkara to Ti.
At present, pushcart is used by maintenance workers to collect waste from home.
Waste collected shifted to light commercial vehicles, so that it involves more people.
“We will focus on garbage collection from door to door in 2022.
Better peggregation at the source level will also help reduce dumping on the vellalore page.
We monitor light commercial vehicles to ensure that they stick to the route,” Sunkara said.
The bulk waste generator must regulate the composting unit itself to treat the waste they produce.
“Apartments, hotels and wedding rooms are the main bulk generator.
Those who cannot arrange composting units can bind with private agents identified by us and hand over waste at a cost.”
