Ludhiana: Noting the main fire incidence in the Feroze Gandhi market which destroyed three stores, the market association has asked the authorities to do some changes and take corrective steps to prevent large accidents in the future.
Association members said that the incident occurred during hours in a hurry, it would produce a very dangerous situation because the market remained a stack of congestion and parked vehicles everywhere.
They claimed that despite the instructions of Punjab and Haryana High Court to ensure the appointed fire pathway in the market, parking contractors violated lanes with haphazard vehicle parking.
Association members asked the authorities to apply hourly parking facilities to reduce the market.
Members of the Market Association also tweeted this suggestion to the Minister of Punjab Chararjit Singh Channi.chairman of Feroze Gandhi Association Col Harjap Singh (RETD) said, “Severe shops are located at the beginning of the market, so it’s easy enough for the fire brigade to access it , but during the day, the market remains choked on both parties.
“He said they had asked the authority of the citizenship to wear hourly parking on the market because people park their vehicles here in the parking lot and go shopping to the nearest market or bus To go to Moga and Ferozepur, but no one listened to them.
He said they had now asked the same as CM Chararjit Singh Channi, who asked him to implement the HC command.
He said, “We plan to submit an insult to the court order in HC if their demands are not fulfilled.” Commissioner Zonal MC Neeraj Jain said, “We have implemented HC’s commands because Fire Lane is appointed, but we will do it, check whether it has been interrupted.
Other changes are also made on the market.” Market Feroze Gandhi, which is one of the city’s busiest markets, has been developed by Ludhiana Repair Trust (LIT) and submitted to MC for maintenance purposes.
The MC has proposed a multi-level parking lot in the market under the Mission of City Smart to curb haphazard parking on the roadside, but the idea never materialized.
Meanwhile, Saurav, one of the shop owners shopping, alleged that they would submit a complaint against the shop owner where the fire began early.
He said he had opened his shop at Christmas and now he did not know what to do because the shop was taken rent.
He said another store also opened a few months ago.
He accused that even the late PSPCL in turning off electricity caused more damage.
