Patna: With the state government that has provided a liberal grant sanction for the construction of a new building, the 104-year-old Patna University (PU) campus is likely to get this year’s facelift.
Patna Uiversity Vice-Choudellor (VC) Girak Kumar Choudhary told this newspaper on Saturday that the State Education Department had agreed to the University’s proposal for the construction of new administrative and academic buildings and provided fund sanctions needed for the same thing.
“It has also given grant sanctions for the development and elimination of several existing facilities,” said Chancellor’s representative.
Multi-shout administration blocks (G + 9) will be built with an estimated cost of Rs 58 Crore which will replace the existing PU office.
“Other multi-multi-storey academic blocks (G + 11) will be built with an estimated cost of Rs 88 Crore,” Chaudhary said, adding that the two blocks would be built on a piece of five hectares of land lying on the Patna of the College and Krishna Ghat.
He added, the new academic block should accommodate all the Ministry of Postgraduate Social Sciences and Humanities which are all located in the darbhanga house complex which is jammed.
The Darbhanga House complex will then accommodate the Postgraduate Department of Applied Economics and Trade and Vanijya Mahavidyalaya from PU.
In time, Vanijya Mahavidyalaya will get a full independent campus in Saidpur.
Parimal Parimal PAR Development Officer Khan said that the university would also get a sophisticated research center and international hostel on campus immediately.

It will get the amount of RS 2.5 Crore for the purchase of equipment needed for the laboratory.

The hostel will have a G + 3 structure with a shared space and dining room at Ground Floor and 21 rooms on three floors above.
All rooms will have a toilet installed and the kitchen and will be fully equipped.
In addition to these two centers, PU has also received funds for the construction of the Library Building for the Postgraduate Law Department at the Patna Law College campus.
RS 37.33 lakh has been approved for purpose by deer, he added.
