Kolkata: I-league on Monday was suspended for at least six weeks by the Indian Football Federation (AIFF) after the Fresh Covid-19 outbreak hit the team participating in Bio-Bubble.
It has been studied that the total number of Covid-19 cases now stands in 45 after the last round of the test that drives AIFF to suspend the league for six weeks.
“The League Committee, comply with the consensus of all clubs participating according to the advice of Dr.
Harsh Mahajan (member of the AIFF sports medical committee) ratified the decision to delay the ongoing I-League hero 2021-22 for at least 6 weeks,” AIFF said in the release.
The I-League committee, chaired by a senior representative of Subrata Dutta Vice-President, will have a review meeting after four weeks to record the situation and decide on future actions.
The health protocol of Bio-Bubble will continue until January 7, because all teams will be tested again on Wednesday.
The team can travel back to their respective destinations after they are tested negatively.
Players and officials, who have tested positively on the team team and has been isolated, will be treated and quarantined in Kolkata according to the health parameters set.
They will be allowed to leave bio-bubbles after they test negatively.
The fresh round of the Covid-19 case has thrown i-League into a jeopardy.
With Covid-19 cases soaring throughout the country, including in Kolkata and the suburbs where the I-League was detained, it would be a difficult task in front of the organizer to continue.
“The omicron variant spread very quickly but also fell very quickly.
We also need to take into account and consider government regulations and policies,” Mahajan said, giving hope of the commencement of I-League after the situation getting better.
Mahajan told the club and AIFF about the increasing number of cases in this country, Norma and New Covid-19 restrictions carried out by the West Bengal government.
Clubs appreciate the efforts made by AIFF to provide important interests for the health and safety of the players and officials.
“AIFF does the best in situations and helps players and officials in the best way.
We appreciate their efforts,” said Kashmir owner Real Sandeep Chattoo told PTI.
On December 29, I-League was suspended for a week after Covid-19 violated the bio-bubbles.
Eight players and three officials had tested the positive virus that was feared last week.
Five players and three team officials from Kashmir FC real, one player each from Mohamedan Sporting, debuting Sreenidi DECCAN FC and Aizawl FC had returned positive.
Thirteen teams competed in I-League this year in three places – The Mohun Bagan Ground in Kolkata, Kalyani Stadium in Kalyani and Naihati Stadium in Naihati.
Only six I-League season matches were played so far – on December 26 and 27 – before being suspended.
