Pune: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) will not introduce additional restrictions within citizenship boundaries but intensify actions against Covid norm violators.
“The decision to increase the number of fly teams has been taken on a surge in positive cases.
Even though the number of patients positively rises, the case is light.
So, there is no additional limit to be introduced in the civil regions,” said Mayor Murlidhar Mohol at a press conference on the day Monday.
The review meeting was held with various stakeholders in PMC.
Details of cases from December 27 to January 2 were studied.
At the average, a four-fold leap in the case witnessed within a week.
Active cases have risen from 600 to 2,500.
“Even though the positive Covid case rose, most of the affected ones did not have serious conditions.
There were 47 positive omicron patients in the PMC area.
All have mild symptoms,” Mohol said.
He said 70% to 75% of newly infected people were fully vaccinated.
“So, inference can be withdrawn that vaccination is effective.
Of the 300 people, as many as 190 is in isolation, 80 infected people are on oxygen support, and only 25 patients are in the ventilator,” he said.
“A group of parents demanded that the school must be closed until the situation increased.
But there was no such decision at this time.
The call on it will be taken after a meeting with the Guardian minister in one or two days,” he said.
According to Mohol, almost three Lakh residents have not taken the second dose.
Special follow-up will be taken to ensure that they are fully vaccinated as soon as possible.
Regarding the Civic’s body preparedness, the mayor said that the administration had prepared 1,800 beds as a backup plan.
The body of the Civic has a stock of 4,000 injection of remediesivir, he said.
