MADRID: Jules Kounde scored an extraordinary goal when Sevilla moved to the last 16 of the Copa del Rey on Thursday after beating Zaragoza Real 2-0.
Kounde sent a shot to dip into the corner of the edge of the area in the 31st minute before Rafa Mir made a safe victory in the second half, the striker resolved a reply attack with the end.
Zaragoza, who sits 16 at the second level of Spain, has pushed the equalizer but cannot find a way through.
Alvaro Gimenez wasted the best chance when he diverted Miguel Puche’s shot from close range.
Sevilla is second in La Liga and among the favorites to win the Copa del Rey this season.
They reached the final semi-finals but have not won the competition since 2010.
Villarreal failed to reach it after they suffered a surprising 2-1 defeat by Sporting Gijon, the 12th in the second division.
Bohdan Milovanov scored the 88th minute winner for sports after Uro Durdevic canceled the opening of Raul Albiol for Villarreal.
