Udhagamandalam: Following nine lions in the Arignar Anna Zoological Park at Vandalur at Chennai were infected with coronavirus, woods ministry K Ramachandran educated woods officials to run virus evaluation to get its tamed elephants housed in Theppakadu elephant camp at Mudumalali Tiger Reserve (MTR) and also Kozhikamuthy elephant camp at prime Rated in Anamalai Tiger Reserve (ATR).
When there are all 27 kumki elephants at Theppakadu camp, 28 tamed elephants have been planted in Kozhikamuthy camp.
“All precautionary steps have been accepted in the camp.
Feeding time was increased from 1 hour to 3 hours because every elephant is fed individually and sent once feeding is completed,” explained MTR area manager K K Kaushal.
You will find 54 mahouts in the camp.
“Just 12 mahouts are vaccinated up to now.
They’re from tribal communities and also show little tendency towards vandalism.
We’re generating awareness of them.
Before they enter into the camp in the early hours, thermal scanning is completed,” the officer stated.
Coronavirus preventative measures are taken from the Kozhikamuthy elephant camp in this past year, stated ART deputy manager S Arokiaraj Xavier.
“As many as 196 inmates of this camp, such as mahouts and their loved ones, have already been vaccinated.
They’re also provided medication to improve immunity.
Swabs were obtained from 52 mahouts to get RT-PCR evaluations a month,” he further added.
