Bhubaneswar: As feared by Covid-19 looks great at the upcoming Pancrayat polls in the state, the State Election Commission (SEC) on Saturday takes stock from the existing pandemic situation and vaccination status during a meeting with senior state government officials.
Journalists of the meeting, Commissioner of the Election of Aditya Prasad Padhi said, based on input received from the state government, the SEC will take subsequent actions related to the poll.
“The state government has presented the present Covid-19 situation that follows the following.
We have extensive discussions about ensuring the security of voters, candidates, and poll personnel during elections.
We are examining the input provided by the state government,” added Padhi .
He also stressed to ensure that all frontline workers and officials, which tend to be involved in polling tasks, are fully vaccinated.
Problems related to the prevention of many people when submitting nominated paper, channeling electoral materials and assembling gathering at the calculation center is also discussed, the official source of the Sumber Meeting on behalf of the state government.
Jena said they told the covid situation set, test status and tentative plan to provide a dose of booster for frontline workers and health care.
“The SEC will make the right decision (about rural polling behavior), which they do not discuss with us.
We have given a direction of the common situation.
On the possibility of a Covid-19 surge situation, we will queue the SEC because it develops,” Jena said.
Official sources said the SEC was awaiting the Indian Election Commission (ECI) to announce the assembly election schedule in five states, which was announced.
“We have made all the other preparations to conduct Panchayat polls.
At present, ECI also issued guidelines to ensure a safe selection for five states.
SEC will also take into account ECI guidelines while making a call to conduct a three-level Panchayat poll in the state, “Senior SEC official said, asking for anonymity.
