Gurgaon: A proclaimed offender wanted in over two dozen cases of murder, attempt to murder, robbery, snatching, possession of illegal arms and assault was arrested by the crime branch of Gurgaon police at Sector 55 crossing on Friday.
Bisamber alias Pehalwan (43), a resident of Baliwas village, had been evading arrest for four years.
Police said he used to buy weapons from Meerut in UP to commit crimes and also used to sell them to other criminals.
Bisamber has over two dozen FIRs filed against him and has been to jail around 11 times over the past decade.
He was part of different gangs and worked for gangsters like Sandeep Gadoli, Mahesh Attack and Binder Gujjar.
He was declared a proclaimed offender by the district court of Gurgaon four years ago and had been changing his hideouts frequently to evade arrest.
Police said Bisamber had come to Gurgaon to commit another crime when the crime branch arrested him on Friday after a tip-off.
“Every time he came out of jail on bail, he committed more crimes.
He had formed his own gang a few years back and had started threatening rival gangs,” ACP (crime) Preet Pal Sangwan said.
The ACP said Bisamber had bought two illegal weapons from Meerut and was planning to snatch a few vehicles in Gurgaon and hide in UP when he was arrested.
He was also planning to sell a few illegal weapons in the city.
“He had bought weapons illegally for Rs 10,000 each and was planning to sell them for Rs 60,000 each,” Sangwan said, adding that several cases are expected to be solved with his arrest.
