Coimbatory: City Corporation plans to get Rs 13 Crore per year because of the user’s costs on garbage collection from door to door.
Although money will help the civil body to provide better services to the population, it will only include the fund fraction spent the collection and waste disposal.
The corporation must pay rent for vehicles used for garbage collection, on the maintenance of the vehicle owned by the corporation, to buy fuel for vehicles, establish and maintain a garbage disposal unit, and pay maintenance workers to door-todoor collection, said a senior official .
“We are reviewing the way trash is collected and discarded to see if the money spent on service can be lowered.
We found that the door collection to the door used a trash can more expensive than the door to the door using a light commercial vehicle,” he said.
The corporation has passed the resolution to get 500 trash cans at a cost of Rs 2.38 Crore and five compactors at a cost of Rs 2.06 Crore, the official was added.
