Nagpur: After avoiding the actions for nine months, Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has slapped a fine of RS16.8 Lakh on Hyderabad-based PVT EviI to postpone the supply of 40 electric city buses.
The Civic’s body has also rejected the company’s request for an extension of six months.
Taking knowing the delay, Commissioner of the City of Radhakrishnan B directed the city transportation department to collect a fine of the company.
Thus, the department worked well from RS16.8 Lakh a few days ago.
The company has been directed to deposit a fine in seven days.
A good thing can be higher, but the agreement limits a fine of up to a maximum of 10% of RS1.68 Crore Bank Guarantee.
Therefore, NMC can only slap the fine RS16.8 lakh in the company.
The agreement was signed between NMC and the company on August 14, 2020, also empowers NMC to restore a fine of RS16,800 per day per bus (0.1% bank guarantee RS1.68 Crore) from the company for delays.
Fines of RS16,800 per day per bus will be far more than the RS16.8 lakh sentence worn at the company now.
The company is to provide a prototype bus on November 24, 2020, the first fleet of 25 buses on April 24, 2021, and the remaining 14 buses on May 23, 2021.
The company provided a prototype bus on December 20, delaying 13 months.
The remaining bus delivery is awaited.
Adult City Commissioner NMC Deepak Kumar Meena and other officials check the prototype bus and suggest small changes in seating.
Radhakrishnan reportedly refused the company’s request seeking an extension of six months since November 15, 2021.
The direction has been given to the company for the bus supply immediately.
The number of Electric MIDI buses has increased to seven in the NMC city bus service.
Six buses operating before, purchased from funds approved by the state government.
NMC has booked for 45 buses under the central government scheme.
Unfortunately, NMC has not submitted land to the company to develop charging stations and services.
The company must operate the bus for 10 years where NMC will pay a minimum of 200km per bus per day.
A day ago, the Mayor of Dayashankar Tiwari announced the NMC would increase the electric bus fleet to 300 because it would likely get RS160 Crore from the state for the procurement of 235 buses.
Already, the process of getting 15 buses from the city’s smart funds is ongoing.
