Bengaluru: A 21-year-old BSC student has been arrested for accusations to squeeze young women, students in particular, through a fake Instagram account where he poses as a girl who is looking for a lesbian partner.
After winning the trust of the victims who thought they were chatting with a girl, accusing Prapanch Nachappa, a resident of Fraser Town, would persuade them to share their naked images with him.
He will then squeeze them threatening to upload these photos if they don’t pay.
Nachappa is the last year of BSC students in private universities in Banasawadi.
The initial investigation revealed that he had extorted at least two lakh hospitals from 30-40 victims.
“He extorted between Rs 4,000 and Rs 10,000 from each victim.
We have not scan the details of the bank account accused of knowing the amount he has squeezed,” police said.
The police said the defendant opened the fake Instagram handle of Parthiksha_bohra_ in September 2021.
He sent friendship requests for women.
He told the victims that he became a model and could help those who wanted to be a model.
“He has sent friendship requests to the complainant who says his name is Prathiksha.
And that he is looking for a lesbian relationship.
He told the victim that the community was embarrassing to him because of his sexual tendency.
To win the confidence of students, the defendant sent several naked images, claiming they belonged to him.
He told him that he would give Rs 4,000 for each picture he sent him.
Now, the girl has shared a few photos of him with the defendant.
However, he felt a trap and block it.
Nachappa opened another Instagram account, and sent his messages, demanded Money and threatened to upload the picture if he did not pay it.
The girl filed a complaint of the police and we tracked Nachappa to his residence recently, “said an investigative officer.
