Mumbai: Increasing his request for additional Covid-19 vaccines, the Maharashtra government on Thursday also requested a center to consider making mandatory vaccination for everyone as a solution to a doubt vaccine.
“We have searched 90 additional doses – 40 lakh covaxin and 50 lakh covishield to resolve their vaccination in the age group 15-18 and also manage the prudential doses for the qualified population.
We have asked the center to consider making vaccination mandatory to discuss doubt and ensure fast vaccination for all, “said Minister of Health Rajesh Tope said.
The Maharashtra government has struggled to increase the speed of vaccination and has taken a few steps to bring it equivalent to the national average but many districts still continue to be at the bottom of the stairs.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday held a virtual meeting with all major ministers in the background of Covid-19 cases which increased.
Chairman of the Minister of Uddhav Thackeray cannot participate in a meeting because of his poor health, and the Minister of Health represents the country.
Although, Maharashtra did not get the opportunity to speak in a meeting all the demands by the state had been sent to the writing center, Tope said.
“Vaccination is the biggest weapon to slow a surge in surge and the center must come out with policies to discuss doubts,” Tope said.
The state has also increased the problem of test results that were not reported because of the home testing kit.
“Lakh home testing kits are being sold in the state but test results are not communicated to the state.
There must be a mechanism to ensure that each positive result is recorded in the system.
At the state level we have called for more rules at the pharmaceutical level,” Tope said.
