Pune: More than two Lakh beneficiaries who qualified to choose the Covid vaccine booster shot in this country within four days of being launched a Preventive Action Dosage Program.
The highest response is in Mumbai.
More than 57,000 beneficiaries, including health care and front lines, and senior citizens (over 60 years), take prevention doses in the state capital.
Pune (around 27,000 doses) and Thane (around 21,000 doses) followed Mumbai.
The state immunization officer, Sachin Desai, said there was no AEFI case (bad events after immunization) had been registered throughout Maharashtra related to the dose of preventive measures so far.
Experts claim that nine-month riders for prevention doses after the second shot of the Covid vaccine affected the response to the new program.
Sachin Patil, Chairperson, the IMA Hospital Board of India, Pune Chapter, said it resulted in fewer footsteps on the way.
The Maharashtra government has struggled to increase the speed of vaccination and has taken a few steps to bring it equivalent to the national average but many districts still continue to be at the bottom of the stairs.
