Mumbai: Beaten by a third covid wave, the organization once again grappled with attendance from work.
Covid leaves are being used by employees, and organizations are working on work rotation, multi-tasking and also attracting staff temp staff to maintain business sustainability.
Given the increasing cases in India, the organization has returned to work-from-home (WFH) mode for office-based staff, while maintaining the Covid protocol at the factory.
Some TOI organizations spoke to say that they witnessed absence from the same order witnessed in the second covid wave.
President JK Group (Group HR) Prem said the HR process tested time such as multi-skills, multi-tasking and the rotation of work had proven useful.
“As a large manufacturing organization, we also follow the practice of Flexi-Workforce, which allows innate contingency.
We also follow a flexible manning system where we use skilled work workers, which can be deployed to absence,” Singh said.

The President of the RPG (HR) S President said Venkatesh, “when team members were infected, his colleagues were rally around them and helped their work too.” Marico Chro Amit Prakash said the company prioritized work if more than one member of the team was infected.
“The focus shifts on ‘must be done’ while ‘good to do’ can wait.
Our members are empowered to make a decision,” Prakash said.
However, Deloitte India’s partner & talent head, V Nathan, said the company did not see the blip in absence.
“We have left Covid up and above normal and, so, people use this leave.
There is a business continuity plan, which will be triggered if we see a large uptick in Covid cases,” Nathan said.
But given that the symptoms are mild in many cases, Nathan says people work when they can.
Organizations say they are certainly better prepared for this time.
“We have become proficient in managing this disorder.
We feel comfortable and quite efficient now in managing work in hybrid mode and in 100% long-range work mode, without losing productivity, response time and the quality of the work delivered,” Venkates said.
Prakash said, “To ensure business continuity and production of important items for our consumers while also knowing about the welfare of our members in the unit, we have implemented a list of shifts that limit the exposure of members internally.
Members are limited only to the work zone allocated and wearing The approved PPE kit and N95 mask, while attending strict sanitization and social blasphemy norms at any time.
We have also implemented the time to enter and exit staggering for members to avoid gathering at the gate.
