The additional commissioner of the police (crime) Shibesh Singh said that the attack was carried out in an exam center in Rohini based on a tip-off of “unfair means” used by several students.
“In the exam center, 11 candidates found using Bluetooth devices and hearing aids during checking.
The case is registered for the same thing under the relevant parts of the Indian criminal code.
“With fresh arrests made on Saturday, we have caught 18 accused in case so far,” Singh said.
During interrogation, Sumit told the police that he had always been a good student and at some point he and his friend Pankaj Dhull began to take money to sit in the test as a native candidate.
They are part of a larger gang involved in organized cheating and question paper leaks, said Singh.
The main gang members identified were Sumit, Manjeet, Gurmel and Sandeep Kohli from Haryana, he said.
On the day of the exam, the whole gang was involved in cheating, the officer said.
“They have taken money from Rs 2 Lakh to Rs 5 Lakh from the candidates.
Gurmel was caught in a place while Sumit managed to escape,” said the senior police officer.
Majeet’s main defendant and Sandeep Kohli fled and effort was made to track them, he said.
