Ahmedabad: Cybercrooks has added extortion to their Arsenal: their loan application also extracts personal information and potentially embarrassing, which is then used as a leverage to extort money from the target.
Even some police have been intimidated with this tactic.
One of the victims is a stock broker from Nikol who has been looking for instant loan facilities online.
Brokers, Ajit Gehil, found several applications and downloaded one and got a loan of Rs 10,000 on November 16, 2021.
Gohil has repayed around RS 17,000 even though the UPI (Unified Payments Antarmace) platform has been borrowed by Rs 10,000.

Meanwhile, he found that three other applications had been downloaded on the phone without his knowledge.
Through one of the applications, he got around Rs 15,000 without asking him.
Then, he began to receive a call from the recovery agent who forced him to pay Rs 10,000 to rs 20,000 every day and threatened to post his naked image online if he did not give up on their demands.
Even though he finally paid Rs 5 lakh to them, he continued to face pressure without stopping.
The squeezer began sending a gohil of his naked image and said the photos would soon become a viral if he dared to ignore their demands.
Gohil finally approached the police on January 8 and filed a complaint under the IT Law.

The officer said that people must immediately approach the police to overcome cybercrooks or they will lose everything.
