Thane: A container truck driver suffered an injury after his vehicle crashed into a gas tanker that was carrying out on the Mumbai-Nashik Arterial highway which was still jammed for almost five hours after an accident on Tuesday.
Santosh Kadam, head of regional disaster management cells in Thane Corporation, said that a Tempo traveler moved on the opposite track from Jalan Raya Nashik around 4am near Mancholi when it comes to the container truck path to come.
The driver saw Tempo and tried to deflect the vehicle to avoid collisions but crashed into a gas tanker moving on the opposite track.
“The driver of the container suffered an injury and was shifted to the hospital closest to the rescue staff,” Kadam said.
Meanwhile, commuter complained about traffic congestion for hours on the highway.
“We were stuck for almost three hours.
Because we did not know the previous accident, we could not take a detour,” said a commuter from Bhiwandi.
Deputy Police Commissioner (Traffic) Balilbileb Patil said the affected vehicle was removed immediately and stretched cleaned for traffic ahead of the morning rush hour.
