Madurai: Sustainable efforts have helped a total of 1,095 students in the Madurai district to get Rs 100 Crore as an educational loan to help them pursue higher education, said Madurai MP Souvenkatsan on Tuesday.
MP said that the district had reached a historical milestone in providing educational loans throughout the country even because there had been a decline in students to get loans.

Camps were held in 357 higher schools in Madurai to create awareness among students .
The meeting was also held with all stakeholders, including district administration, the Ministry of Education and Company and Bank officials and we analyzed the reasons behind educational loans rejected, “MP said.
From RS 100 Crore, RS 91.1 Crore was approved through 12 National Banks while Rs 38.2 Crore was approved through 28 private banks.
MP said that for the first time on October 20, 2021, a ‘Mela Education Loan’ was held at the American College campus and 1,355 students registered.
“There is an amazing response to Mela.
On the same day, RS11.81 Crore is approved as an educational loan for students.
A total of 319 requests are still delayed and they are also being seen and hopefully we can even reach the RS 150 Crore target.
